Bintang Gluten Test

Further test provided by Adam.

…with the Indonesian beer, Bintang Pilsener.  It’s a 330mL bottle, 4.7% alcohol.  Ingredients: water, malts, sucrose, barley, and hops.  I find it strange that both “malts” and “sucrose” are listed before “barley”.  Perhaps the “malts” are from wheat.  That would make sense of the test result.  On an amusing note, my eldest step-son didn’t want to drink the beer so I used as a shampoo!

Beer: Bintang Pilsener
Producer: Bintang Indonesia Tbk
Originating country: Indonesia
Brewing location: Indonesia
Bottle size: 330 ml = approx. 12 Oz.
Alcohol by volume: 4.7%
Ingredients: water, malts, sucrose, barley and hops
Miscellaneous:  –

Bintang Gluten Test Bintang Gluten Test

Adam tested with a threshold of 20 ppm. The limit of detection depends on the number of drops taken from the extraction solution, please find some more information here.

Test result: A red line appears on the right of the test stick ( T ). The red line  indicates the presence of gluten equal to or above 20 ppm. The blue line on the left test area ( C ) is a control line and indicates that the extract/sample is suitable, the test has been performed correctly and all reagents are active. Even though this test is positive please note it is not a medical advice – see my facts page.

So weird because I was able to drink this beer in Bali. No problems! 🙂

I also drank this beer over 4 weeks back in 2017 with no reaction to gluten at all.

I have been drinking corona or cocktails every time I have been traveling but it’s expensive in the long end so when I found this website I wanted to give the Bintang a go since other people on here had good experience with it. I have been drinking the Bintang everyday for 2 weeks straight now without any problems. I’m so glad I found this website and will definitely try other beers out when I travel to new destinations. Huge thumbs up from me💪🏽

I’ve heard you can still get the damage that gluten does but sometimes with no symptoms ,
